About

Lily, 21, law student by day, foodie extraordinaire by night. Home is Sydney and I love eating, cooking, fashion, modern design, indie cinema, walking the streets of any city and dancing alone to David Bowie. I believe cooking should be about simplicity, freshness, fun and never being uncomfortable about trying new flavour combinations. My boyfriend’s mum always jokes that there must be something wrong when we’re watching something other than the food channel. One of my favourite shows is Food Safari. Not only is it well drool-worthy, it showcases authentic (often complex and finicky) recipes and cooking methods from an array of cultures. I love Jamie, Nigella and Giada, but I find at times their cooking is Westernised and simplified. I’d seen the Food Safari cookbook floating around for a while but as usual, it and I had to do somewhat of a tango before I could buy it (when I had the money, it wouldn’t be in any bookstores and when I saw it, I never had the money). But now that it’s mine, expect to see some real blood and sweat cooking!
